The Videogame Industry

Video game! when we utter this word from ours mouth we feel inside a kind of excitement, joyness, thrill, passion etc. video game is basically a game which is played on computer in which the player controles moving pictures on screen by pressing buttons.
Marshall mcluhan, in his book Understanding media writes the extentions of man that the characteristic of all media means that the 'content' of any medium is always another medium. The content of writing is speech, just as the written word is the content of print, and the print is the content of the telegraph.

The evolution of the video game has been started since in 1950s. Accordng to  (xtimeline.com) the first electronic game is known as the ''Noughts and Crosses''   january 01, 1952. And after six year in 1958, 'William Higinbotham' created first video game known as "Tennis for two''. And since  then the concept of video game developed and later its status change into video game as a key player in the  media industry. During that period, other games like spacewar, corndog and space travel were introduced, although they were not so popular in the market.A decade later in 1972, video game staus has completely change after the widespread success of 'pong' by the Atari.  In 1978, after the successful of 'Space Invaders' it is said that it was the golden time of video game industry development in America.

Internet as Medium of Narrative Art Creation

Internet is the network of world wide computers network which provides information around the world on many subjects and also  enables users to share or to exchange the messages  (e.g. e.mail, online communication etc. As it is the other mediums like t.v, radio, newpapers, likewise the internet is also a new medium of contemporary media and I would  like to explain that with the advent of the internet the entire world has become a global village.
The Internet today is not only the powerful tool of the contemporary media of 21 century but also has been the  medium  of art creation in terms of constructive format of fictional or non-fictional events  togather. The practice of the hypertext and cybertext not only  enables users to change the language of marking and making its structure but also help to exchange the information within seconds. For example it does not only change the text format but also change the pictures, songs, videos and writing etc, that makes a complete package of entertainment to the users.
The digital art or the computer art is changing continously and its basic and more wonderful form is web 2.0 which is more interactive, interpretive, multimodel and playful which makes the internet more effective medium of the contemprory media today.

The Commercialisation of the Network: IPR, Crowdsourcing, Free Labour and the Californian Ideology

According to Cambridge Advance learner's dictionary Commercialism means the principles and activities of commerce in terms of production or provision of goods and services in order to making moneyis called commercialism. In broad sence the commercialism is the way of making money through advertisements on radio, television and the more latest internet. In media context, the development of commercialism starts after the inception of internet and the web 2.0 networking society.

According to( James slevin 2000:12) the invention of  electronic media has provided the means to radically increase the scope of nations- states, commercial enterprises and other form of social organisation to monitor their production and reproduction in time space.

Hartley defines IPR (Intellectual property Rights), is a legal framework term which means ownership of intangibal information. Copyright is one example of Intellectual property Rights are patents, trade marks, design rights which restricts others from copying.

with the emergence the technology and the internet the whole world is like to be a globalvillage, crowdsourcing mens  pepole are more and more participating in this virtual networking business society and E-commerece allows for the trading of  goods in international electronic space. due to the cyberculture and the IT boom the society is more and more diverted to the commercialism.

We the Media?: The Wonderful World of Web 2.0

Lot of people using the words blogging, mash up, ajex and other buzz words but they don't know the meaning of these words, they also use some prominent words such as youtube, yahoo, flickr but there is something missing in their explaination.  Web 2.0 first of all this term introduced with the concept of a brainstroming conference session between O'Reilly amd MediaLive International. what is the medialive international? It is the procedure of technology, tradeshows, and conferences.  Generlly Web 2.0 is a platform of globle computers networks or the parts of the Web and its provides the oppourtunities of sharing information that are linked with its users. It also allows users to edit and creat its own content, for example, you tube, flickr, facebook etc.
Web 2.0 applications, socials networking sites, vidiosharing sites, blogs, wikis, portals, and web based communites such as facebook, twitter, flickr these all are the clasic example of web 2.0 more about its all  gives the idea of  virtual society of computers networks which only exist but does not seems.

The revolution of web 2.0 enhancing through the concept of internet. social networking sites such as facebook, youtube, twitter, myspace etc are becoming more popular because of the word  "YOU", without you they all are worthless because its all abot socialization and customization.  Today if facebook is doing its business in billions dollers and its only possible due to the participation of the people's in it.

We the Media? Part I: The Emergence of News into the Age of Computers

what is  news??? New is a kind of report or kind of information about recent event, stories.

New information about a subject of some public interest that is shared with some portion of the public.(Mitchell stephens-A history of new pg 4) . All reports ,new information, new events, interesting stories that is presented through different mediums( print, radio, television, internet etc) but all these have one thing common among themself and which is the public interestes. And  all these kind of information related to different kind of public features like controvery, prominence, religion, war, business, fashion, sports and so&so. These all information published through professionals.

News has been one of the most outstanding and powerful tool of the media from the mediaeval age to this  digitized world. With the emerge and development of new technology the importance of the news has been increased and its style of presentation and the way of broadcasting is also changing rapidly and it all has only due to convergence of the new technology.

According to (Micheal schudsen 1995:95)The concept and idea of the reporters and the reporting invention through institution has become increased in nineteenth century. Nowadays the ways of communication are becoming rapidly change due to amazing invention of innovative technology, where the time and space has  been compressed and the world become like a village. Its great Example is the iphone.
iphone is the modren and new concept  of the   modren life on it everybody can interect with world by just one fingure clink. facebook.twitter.myspace,amazone,ebay,google,youtube all are becoming the modren ways of our communications and these all are only because of emergence of new technology and the internet.

The Body, The Mind, Life and The Computer: ALife, AI, Cyborgs

Surgeons and Biologists have helped to prove the notion that the body is an array of sub- assemblies called organs that carry out some specific functions (e.g. legs are for walking, the eyes are for seeing etc). Today with the innovative creation in science and technology the perception about life has changed. The successful medical transplantation of hearts, lungs, kidnes and hand.
This successful creation of medical science has changed the trend that Body doesn't makes us human anymore because we have been interrelated with different kind of machines and has created a cordial relationship between eachother, therefore, there is only the feeling of ''us'' not only the feeling of ''me''. This innovation of technology made us so dependent such as i.phone, laptap, mac,pc etc. Many to many communication, media democracy, metaphores and metaphysical and physical attechments have made us the replication of cybrogs. And the idea of who controls the body or the human system arises periodically at the moment.

The evolution of ALife, (Artificial Life) , has been stated due to the using of simulation, such as rebots, compuer networks, computer models and biochemistry. Generally it is called ''Cybernetic organism'' which can be simply defined as it is the influance of the Artificial Intelligence (AI) or, it is a control theory which related to the system that perceives its enviornment and takes actions which maximize its chance of success. The way of survial and the relationship between blood and the machine has been taken a serious granted because of the question mark in the existence of human relationship.

Beyond New: Thinking about Media Change

The last couple of decades with the help of new technologic advancement, this era has become the era of new/comtemporary media enviornment. Media is actually a "substance or agency" which proeduce an effect between the individual and the world.

The most basic and first form of media had come into being in the shape of vinyl, cassettes, newpapers, radio, and television and later this technology change into the new technology with the conception of the internet and the world wide web 2.0  or, (New media) like mobil phone, wireless and digital network and now people began to called it the mass media.

In this view, the time and place between the old media  into the new media has been compressed by new media. If I would explain this when old technology changed into new technology it was the begining of the new media after remediation and technological convergence its papularty has been increased and the distance between time and space has been compressed, its latest example is iphone. Iphone is the big example of new media, now it is possible that just on one thing you can access in a minute at the other end of the world and it is called human computer interactivity ( many to many communication).   According to Bolter and  Grusin, remediation is a defining characteristic of new digital media because digital media is contstantly remediating its predecessors (television, radio, print journalism and other forms of old media). Immediacy and Hypermediacy are also the major tolls in the process of media change and played a vital role in the establishment of new media.

The Birth (and Death?) of Cyberspace.

The birth of cyberspace can be evaluated as it is since when the computers took over our lives. It is the virtual society of worldwide network of computer networks that use the TCP/IP network protocols to facilitate data transmission and exchange. cyberspace can be simply defined  as it is the virtual world, which exists but can't be felt, although it seems like the real world like the virtual land, virtual lives and virtual societies, but does not exist as the same physical reality as the real world does.

Ref:Lawrence Lessig, Code and other Laws of cyberspace, 1999..
Lawrence Lessig, Code and other laws of cyber space, Basic books, 1999, New York.
According to the guruesque William Gibson, cyberspace is a 'consensual hallucination'. cyberspace is a place whare everything lies in virtual and digital  form and experinced by billions of opratoers on the daily bases to exchange the infomation data. Jari Peltola defines 'cyberspace is made of information offering great power to those who can manipulate information.
In the real world the walls of brick and glass create division but in cyberspace walls of data divide a hardwired, of postorganic, humanity into economic protagonists, humanity into economic protagonists’ (thomas:1991:44).

Introduction: What do we mean by ‘Media’ and ‘Cyberculture’?

''Media'' is something through which an effect is produced: especially (Radio, television, internet and newspapers), these all are the channels of communication that reach large number of peopls and it is called the mass media.  e.g. Air is the medium through which sound is carried. 'Media' is actually a plural form, the plural  form of 'medium',as the collins English Dictionary defines it is an intervening substance or agency for transmitting or produced an effect'. According to Marshall Mcluhan: 'The medium is the message' In his   Understanding Media, first published in 1964, focuses on the media effects that permeate society and culture, but McLuhan's starting point is always the individual, because he defines media as technological extensions of the body. As a result, McLuhan often puts his inquiry and his conclusions in terms of the ratio between the physical senses (the extent to which we depend on them relative to each other) and the consequences of modifications to that ratio. This invariably entails a psychological dimension. spacect.  www.marshallmcluhan.com/main.html

''Cyberculture''
The culture arising from the use of computer networks, as for communication, entertainment, work, and business is called cyberculture.
